China Footwear Adjust Strategy——–higher Value Less Quantity

Canton province is the biggest footwear export foundation. Until the first 6 months this year, Canton shoes export volume has decrease, but its export value has grown. Meanwhile, price of per shoes has increased approximately 30%, and rest less export trading enterprises. According the experts analysis, this higher value but less quantity phenomenon showed that Chinese footwear industry is adjusting its strategy.

Until now, China is the largest footwear manufacturing bases in the world, and canton province play an important role in it. In 2007, Canton shoes export volume reached 3.47 billion pairs for 9.2 billion USD, it is 42.5% of national total export volume. But during this year, by the influence of appreciation of RMB and higher value of raw material, Canton province has dropped its export volume.

According the latest statistic from Canton customs, until the first 6 months in 2008, Canton shoes export volume decrease 15.8% to 1.63 billion pairs; its value up 9.2% to 4.96 billion USD; its average export price increase 29.6% to 3 USD.

Effected by many disadvantage element this year, Canton export trading enterprises sharply decreased from 5811 to 3924. Chairman of Canton Footwear manufacture Association Qiu xiaoguang said, this phenomenon displayed a enormous change in footwear industry strategy. Some small companies were integrated by large enterprises, and some transfer their factories to western region. All manufacturers tried their best to optimized industrialization for boosting footwear industry development.
